Buying Experts for Luxury Property in Les Gets
The Alpine Specialist guide to Les Gets, France
The ski resort
Les Gets started life as a farming village and has since developed into a pretty, ski resort with typical alpine charm. The largely pedestrianised village centre is a quieter alternative to Morzine only a few kilometres down the road. The resort has excellent facilities for children, including an outdoor ice rink, making it a good choice for family holidays. Being less than one hour from Geneva airport by road it is also an accessible destination for weekend skiers.
Skiing in Les Gets
Les Gets sits at the western end of the Portes du Soleil ski area. The ski runs immediately above the resort are gentle and the ideal learning ground for beginners and children. The Mont Chéry peak is one of the highest skiable points above Les Gets and is the best choice for intermediate and expert skiers, though both levels will find more challenge in the skiing above Morzine and Avoriaz.
Summer in Les Gets
Les Gets is a popular summer destination for mountain bikers like nearby Morzine: both the resort and the terrain adapts well to the sport. July and August is the peak period for visitors who also come to enjoy walks in the pretty alpine meadows.
Buying luxury ski property in Les Gets
Most of the luxury property for sale in Les Gets is traditional mountain chalets built in the style of the Haute Savoie region. Older farm buildings are built of local stone while wood is more widely used in newer developments. Mountain chalets are available close to the resort centre as well as upon the wooded slopes surrounding the village.
